Quarantine - Day 19

Meet Sharon the Librarian Snake, and Buddy Rex

Today Ella officially started her Spring Break. She slept in (after staying up past midnight). I cooked both girls egg sandwiches and quickly drank a pot of coffee, and then brewed another one just in case. The sun rose up high and bright and the temp climbed into the upper 50s. Even as all the parks are officially closed, people couldn’t help themselves and found reasons to go outside for a walk. Our front yard features the lounge chairs brought from the back yard facing the neighbors lounge chairs brought from their back yard at a distance so everyone can hang out and talk. We are slowly developing our COVID-19 hacks.

Abigail is slowing building out a menagerie of puppets for an as yet to be titled children’s show. In addition to her first character, Gus, today she added Sharon the Librarian, a shy snake who likes to say “shh…”, and Buddy Rex, a musician and leader of the band Buddy Rex and the X,Y,Zs. She spoke with her independent study prof, who quite liked how things were developing with the show idea and offered up a budget to help launch the project. Abbie was thrilled. She also managed to turn out another couple videos and is working on another. This is all occurring over what would have been her Spring Break.

Play In A Book managed to get up leveled content on our site for Grades K - 5 and will follow with weekly content. However, we are in touch with our clients and with the school district, and they are blowing cool on the idea of us substituting this content for our contractual scope of work. CPS seems to be warming to the idea of throwing vendors under the bus while state and federal dollars begin to arrive. We are fully cognizant that all our work may be considered as free for the taking as far as the district is concerned. Still, it gives us something to do. As Bill Withers (who sadly passed away today) once sang, “You just keep on using me, until you use me up.”
